Pick Up Puppy at the Farm

This is, of course, always the best option for buying a new puppy. It allows the new owner to see the environment the puppy was raised in, meet the breeders, and meet the sire and dam. We encourage all new owners who live close enough to come out to the farm to visit the puppy starting when they are 6 weeks of age. And we encourage a farm pick up. We have also arranged to meet new owners within a close distance if we have a few puppies to deliver to a certain area.

Fly with the Puppy

Most airlines allow you to fly with a puppy. Another option for picking up your new puppy is to fly into an airport near the farm, we will meet you there with your puppy and then you can fly home with the puppy in the cabin under the seat in front of you.

We have had new owners do this successfully. There are a few things to consider:

Have the Puppy Shipped Cargo by an Airline

This is a new option for us, but as we have looked into it, seems a very humane way for pets to travel as long as precautions are taken. The following outlines information concerning the shipment of a pet by airline cargo.

PLEASE NOTE! After having a few shipments under our belt, we have realized that the airline weather restrictions make it really hard for us to ship in the summer and winter months. Our summers can get up to the 100s and winters easily below zero at times. In order to not have too many disappointed customers, we will only consider shipping a puppy by cargo in the months of March-May and September-November.

Airline Information

We plan to ship via Delta Airlines who has a reputable pet shipping program. Shipping pets can be restricted by weather conditions and health/age of pet. Shipping price is determined by the weight of the puppy and crate, and the size of the crate. Distance does not determine the cost. Other information:

Cost to Ship a Puppy by Freight

It will be approximately $425 - $500 (in addition to the cost of the puppy) to ship a puppy cargo. The airline price varies by size and weight, not by destination, and we will not know the price until we take the puppy in for the flight. The lowest price we have seen for airline freight is about $200. We plan to ship freight collect meaning the new owner would pay the actual freight charges when you pick up your puppy. The other charges would be due to us by the time the puppy is 6 wks old. This allows us time to make travel arrangements for your new puppy.

What Information We Will Need From You

Use a Pet Transportation Service

We have not used a service of this type, nor do we know of anyone who has with one of our puppies, but there are some online that seem to do a humane job. Definitely worth looking into if you do not live close by and flying is not an option.

Please feel free to contact us with any questions about shipping or picking up your puppy!
